Coace® KS-01 is a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer.
Combining the stiffness and transparency of polycarbonate with the toughness and processability of ABS, styree-maleic anhydride copolymer is a high-performance polymer alloying agent. Alternating styree and maleic anhydride units in the copolymer's structure creates reactive sites that enable robust interfacial interaction between the two base polymers.
Styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer significantly enhances the general performance of PC/ABS alloy by means of its outstanding physical and chemical qualities and compatibility. Applications of SMA have demonstrated considerable promise and benefits in numerous sectors including automotive manufacture, electronic appliances, medical equipment and construction.
1. Enhanced Interfacial Compatibility: Strong bond produced by the maleic anhydride groups in the copolymer reacting with PC's hydroxyl groups improves the PC/ABS alloy's compatibility and stability.
2. Improved Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength, impact resistance, and elongation at break of the PC/ABS mix are much improved by using SMA Copolymer as a compatibilizer.
