Low Glass Transition Temperature Impact Modifiers for Polyamide Compounds

Coace® W1A-2 is an anhydride modified polyolefin elastomer with high grafting rate, which has low glass transition temperature.

Anhydride modified polyolefin elastomers have emerged as important impact modifiers, notably due to their low glass transition temperature (Tg). This characteristic helps to improve the impact resistance of polyamide compounds, particularly at low temperatures, making these modified polymers ideal for a wide range of demanding applications.
W1A-2 impact modifer are a good alternative for a wide range of demanding applications due to their low glass transition temperature, increased compatibility, flexibility, toughness, and chemical resistance. These materials meet high performance criteria in a variety of applications, including automotive components and industrial machinery, and provide reliable and cost-effective solutions. 

Characteristic


Anhydride modified polyolefin elastomers are created by modifying polyolefins with anhydride functional groups. The addition of these functional groups gives the elastomer a distinct set of characteristics, making it a useful impact modifier for polyamide compounds.

w1a-2 have a low glass transition temperature (Tg), which is often less than 0°C. This ensures that the modified polyamide retains its impact resistance even at sub-zero temperatures, which is crucial for applications in cold environments.

The inclusion of anhydride groups improves compatibility with polyamides. These groups can react with the amide groups in polyamides, resulting in a homogeneous blend with consistent mechanical properties across the polymer matrix.

Flexibility and hardness:  great flexibility and hardness to polyamide compounds. This improves impact resistance, reduces brittleness, and increases the longevity of the finished product.

Chemical Resistance: Because Impact Modifiers polyolefin backbone is very resistant to chemicals, modified polyamide compounds are appropriate for applications involving strong chemical exposure.
