Toughener for PET, PBT with High Grafting Rate
W5D is a graft polymer containing glycidyl ester functional groups, olefin copolymer as a matrix material, high reactivity.
Glycidyl methacrylate modified polyolefin elastomer (GMA-g-POE) is a high-performance toughening compound that enhances the impact resistance of PET and PBT. The modification includes grafting GMA onto a polyolefin elastomer backbone, producing in a polymer that is more compatible and reactive with polyester matrices.
Glycidyl methacrylate-modified polyolefin elastomer is an excellent toughener for PET and PBT, providing significant improvements in impact resistance, mechanical characteristics, thermal stability, and chemical resistance. These improved qualities make POE-g-GMA-hardened PET and PBT appropriate for a wide range of demanding applications in a variety of industries, such as automotive, electronics, consumer goods, industrial, and packaging.
1. High Grafting Rate: The high grafting rate of GMA onto the polyolefin elastomer results in a large number of reactive sites, allowing for robust interaction with the polyester matrix.
The epoxy groups in GMA can react with the ester groups in PET and PBT, generating covalent bonds that improve interfacial adhesion and dispersion.
2. Elasticity and Toughness: The polyolefin elastomer backbone has intrinsic elasticity and flexibility, which greatly improves the toughness and impact resistance of the modified polyesters.
